Specifying the right metal is the first decision on any furniture, railing or gate project. Here is how the three compare in real workshop terms.

Wrought iron / carbon steel (Q235)

Our workhorse. Highest stiffness per cost, easy to weld and forge, ideal for structural railings, gates and heavy furniture. It needs a protective coating, but with primer plus powder or galvanizing it serves outdoors for years.

Aluminum alloy

Light and naturally corrosion resistant, so it needs no coating in most climates. Lower strength than steel, so sections are larger. Best for windows, doors and large-span railings where weight matters.

Stainless steel (304 / 316)

Best corrosion resistance, especially 316 in coastal and chloride environments. Premium cost and harder to machine, but near maintenance-free. Used where appearance and longevity justify the price.
