Match primer, powder coat, galvanize or fluorocarbon to your installation environment in six steps.

How to choose the right surface treatment for metal products

What you need

Steps

  1. 1

    Identify the installation environment

Indoor furniture needs only decorative coating. Outdoor needs weather protection. Coastal or humid sites need galvanizing. List where the product will live.

  2. 2

    Choose the base protection

Apply anti-rust primer on every bare steel item. For humid or coastal use, specify hot-dip galvanizing before the top coat — it is the most reliable barrier against rust.

  3. 3

    Select the top finish

Powder coating gives the widest RAL colour choice for furniture and visible railings. Fluorocarbon suits premium outdoor exposure. Wood-grain transfer and antique patina are decorative options.

  4. 4

    Match colour and texture

Confirm the RAL code from our swatch card, or send a sample. Choose matte, satin or gloss, and whether you want a wood-grain or brushed look.

  5. 5

    Balance budget and lead time

Galvanize plus double powder costs more and adds days. Plain powder is fastest. Align the finish with the project budget and delivery date.

  6. 6

    Request a finish sample

Before bulk production, ask for a coated sample panel. Check colour, gloss and coating thickness so the full order matches your approval.
